Brief History of NNPC - PPMC Mosimi Area Office Multi-Purpose Staff Cooperative

NNPC-PPMC Mosimi Area Office Staff Cooperative was formed in 1993 under the PENGASSAN leadership of Comrade Umar Musa Gashashi. Following staff were appointed as pioneers: Bakare G.T (President), Late Leshi J.A (Secretary), Adewale B.O (Fin Sec) and Ayo S.A (Treasurer).

The society was formally registered with Ogun State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperative Services of Nigeria in 2009 after undergoing formative stages with the following aims and objectives:

1. To engage thrift and credit Operatives and grant loans to members at reasonable interest rates for productive purposes.
2. To engage in trading/business activities of any type including wholesale and retail. Supply of Goods and Services.
3. To carry out any other activities designed on Cooperative principles which will engage the spirit and practice of cooperation among the members.

We commenced Cooperative activities in 1993 such as membership drive, drafting and printing of bye laws, passbooks, opening of current account with First Bank of Nigeria, Sagamu.

We later purchased a caravan of about 36ft in length which serves as Cooperative Secretariat and Supermarket and later constructed a building which was commissioned in 2015 by the then Area Manager, Prince (Engr. ) P.O. Eluyefa and serves same purpose till today.

As at December 2020, our membership strength is Three Hundred and Nine (309) which comprises of Two Hundred and Twenty (220) males and Seventy-Four (74) females across NNPC locations.

The following categories of loans were granted to our members without delay after processing;

1. Normal Loan
2. Soft Loan
3. Electronics Loan
4. Car Loan
5. Mortgage Loan
6. Festive Loan
7. Educational Loan

This remains topmost priority of the present Management Committee (Executives). We also engage in the following Business Ventures to boost our overall bottom line;

1. Hiring of 18 seaters bus (Toyota Hiace Bus) & Sienna
2. Operating of Modern Super-Mart
3. Management of Mosimi Area Office Fuel Dump
4. Fixed Deposit
5. Treasury Bill

The present Management Committee will not relent until Mosimi Staff Cooperative ranks among the best Cooperative Society in not only Nigeria but Africa at large.
